Nobuharu Asahara

Nobuharu Asahara (Japanese朝 原 宣 治, Asahara Nobuharu; born June 21, 1972 in Kita- ku, Kobe ) is a former Japanese athlete.

He won a total of eight Japanese championships, including five in the 100 -meter run (1996-1997, 2000-2002) and three in the long jump (1994-1995, 1997). He was also in 1993 with a personal best jump of 8.13 m Asian champion in the long jump. At the Asian Games in 2002 he won the silver medal in the 100 -meter run.

Overall, Asahara took in his career at four Olympic Games and ten world championships (outdoor and indoor ).

He celebrated his greatest sporting success at the Olympic Games 2008 in Beijing. Together with Naoki Tsukahara, Shingo Suetsugu and Shinji Takahira he won the bronze medal in the 4x100 m relay. In the 100 -meter run, where he also took part, he was parted from the other hand, already in the quarter-final round.

On 23 September 2008, Asahara ended his professional career at the age of 36 years. He ran his last race at the Seiko Super Rikujō Taikai in Kawasaki, where he was adopted by fans and fellow travelers.
