Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds is the first studio album by the same band and also the first solo studio album from Noel Gallagher after leaving Oasis in August 2009. It was published on 17 October 2011 at the label Sour Mash. In Gallagher's native Britain Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds topped the album charts in Germany, it came in 11th place

Formation

The album was recorded in various studios in London and Los Angeles in 2010 and 2011. It was produced by Noel Gallagher and Dave Sardy, who acted as producer already at more Oasis albums. Three of the songs on the album are older compositions that Noel Gallagher had originally written for Oasis. From (I Wanna Live in a Dream in My) Record Machine and Stop the Clocks demo versions already circulating on the Internet.

Stop the Clocks was originally recorded for the album Do not Believe the Truth, but was canceled at short notice again from the tracklist. It was also the title of best-of album by Oasis from 2006, on which the song is not represented. The third song is Dream On older origin.

The cover photo of the album was taken by photographer Lawrence Watson under the roof of a gas station in Beverly Hills with a Polaroid camera.

Style

Overall, the songs remain on Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds faithful to the Britpop sound that Gallagher also been coined at Oasis. There are also variations on the album. To be heard in the first single The Death of You and Me as blowers, which are inspired by the Dixieland style of New Orleans. The Song AKA ... What a Life! is very danceable and is supported by piano chords instead of the guitar.
