Noël Gallon

Noël Gallon ( born September 11, 1891 in Paris, † December 26, 1966 ) was a French composer and teacher of composition.

Noël Gallon studied as his brother Jean Gallon at the Paris Conservatory. In 1910 he won the Prix de Rome with the cantata Acis et Galathée. Since 1920 he was solfege and since 1926 teacher of counterpoint at the Conservatoire. Among his pupils were well-known composers such as Maurice Duruflé, Olivier Messiaen, Henri Dutilleux, Gerd Boder and Tony Aubin.

Gallon composed a lyrical drama ( Paysan et Soldats, 1911), an orchestral suite, a fantasy for piano and orchestra, a sonata for flute and bassoon, ten Preludes and Toccata for piano, choirs and songs.
