Noormarkku

Noormarkku (Swedish Norrmark ) is a town in the western Finnish landscape Satakunta. Since its incorporation on January 1, 2010, it is administratively a district of approximately 20 km west port city of Pori.

Noormarkku is one of the earliest industrialized towns in Finland. By the mid- 18th century, two sawmills were built here, and in the 19th century, the place became one of the centers of the Finnish pulp and paper industry. 1870 bought the business Antti Ahlström The Forge of Noormarkku and converted it into an industrial complex, from which the present-day United, Rautaruukki Group emerged. The terrain is partly because of emblematic buildings of the industrial architecture of the 19th century is of interest, but especially for the 1938-39 built by Alvar Aalto Residential House Villa Mairea, one of the most important buildings of modern architecture in Finland.
