North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation

The North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation ( NORCECA ) is the continental governing body of volleyball in North and Central America and the Caribbean. The headquarters of the Association is located in Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic).

Profile

In the Caribbean and Central American Games in San Juan (Puerto Rico) the establishment of the 1966 NORCECA decided. The development in addition to representatives from Puerto Rico, Cuba, the Dominican Republic and Haiti and the subsequent Rubén Acosta Hernandez FIVB President was involved. The official foundation was completed in 1968, when Canada and the United States joined the association. Acosta was the first president. It was founded in 1984 by Lcdo. Libertario Pérez, Esq. replaced, officiated four years. From 1988 to 2001 launched Lcdo. Luis R. Mendoza, Esq. the association. Since 2001, Cristóbal Marte Hoffiz is the NORCECA President.

The NORCECA is the individual national associations superior and organizes continental competitions. The first NORCECA Championship took place from 4th - 9th August held in Mexico in 1969. The Association is also involved in the organization of qualifiers for the Olympic Games and World Championships as well as in international competitions, organized by member associations.
