North Fork of Long Island AVA

North Fork of Long Iceland AVA ( recognized since 10 October 1986) is an American Viticultural Area in the U.S. state of New York. The area lies in the eastern part of the administrative area in Suffolk County and includes the northern peninsula on the northeastern tip of Long Iceland. The vineyards of the southern peninsula are summarized in The Hamptons, Long Iceland AVA. North Fork of Long Iceland is home to more than 30 wineries, who cultivate more than 1,200 hectares of vineyards.

The microclimate of the vineyard is influenced positively by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean of the Long Iceland Sound and the Peconic Bay. The growth period of the vines is longer than in other regions in this part of the state about one month. This allows the installation of known from the Bordeaux varieties Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
