Hamgyŏng - pukto ( North Hamgyŏng ) is a province in North Korea. It was created in 1896 with the division of the province Hamgyŏng -do in Hamgyŏng - pukto and Hamgyŏng - namdo. Capital of the province Hamgyŏng - pukto is Chongjin.

Geography

Hamgyŏng - pukto bordered to the north by the People's Republic of China and Russia, on the east by the Sea of ​​Japan, on the southwest by the province Hamgyŏng - namdo and to the west by the province Ryanggang -do.

History

In the province there are the internment Hwasŏng and Haengyŏng.
