North Port distillery

Northport was a whiskey distillery in the town of Brechin, Angus, Scotland.

History

The distillery was founded in 1820 Northport by the farmer David Guthrie in Brechin. In 1823 took over Guthrie sons John David and Alexander the leadership of the distillery. In 1922 the distillery Distiller Company Ltd.. (DCL ) over which they conducted until its closure in 1983. The distillery has been temporarily shut down temporarily in 1928, but reopened in 1937. The site was sold in 1990 and the building demolished. Then a supermarket was built on the site. The Distillery Road, which runs past the site, to remind of the former distillery.

Production

The water used was from the hole Lee. The distillery used per a rough blister ( wash stills ) and fine blister (Spirit Still ).

Samples

Northport also produced single malt bottlings, some of which are still available as part of the Rare Malt Series today. Furthermore, several bottlings independent bottler available.
