North Region, Brazil

The Região Norte ( Portuguese " Northern Region " ) is one of five major statistical regions of Brazil. It includes the seven states of Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima and Tocantins. His largest and most important cities are Manaus, Belém and Porto Velho.

The Região Norte accounts for 45.27 % of the area of Brazil. At the same time, it is the region with the second lowest population, namely 15,864,454 at the 2010 census.

The northwest is industrially underdeveloped and not very well developed. For this, it is home to the Amazon Basin, the largest ecosystem on earth.
