Notkarspitze

The Notkarspitze is a 1889 meter high mountain on the northeastern edge of the Kramer Group in the Bavarian part of the Oberammergau Alps.

Location

The Notkarspitze lies south of the Ammer Valley, about four miles south-west of Ettal, Ettal in the forest. The top is covered with grass and pines, but also has schrofige areas. It is the highest point of a ridge that extends more than 3 kilometers to the east; prominent pre-peak are the brick Spitz ( 1719 m) ​​and the ox seat (1515 m, forested ). Between the east ridge and the shorter north ridge lies the Notkar.

The south ridge falls away to Gießenbach saddle (1600 m) and the Hasenjoch (1688 m), to the, a long ridge with peaks such as the Brünstelskopf (1814 m), the Great Zunderkopf (1895 m) and the Near Fields head (1928 m) connects.

The peak offers a view of the Allgäu Alps, the Zugspitze and with a clear view over the Ammersee and Lake Starnberg to Munich.

Hiking trails

The summit can be reached as a lightweight hiking tour over these three ridges: from Ettal mill quite steep through the Notkar and the north ridge ( AV route 262, 3 hours), of Ettal or from Ettaler saddle on the east ridge, or from Gießenbach saddle along the southern ridge ( AV route 262 ); the Gießenbach saddle is accessible from the east of Ettal or Oberau ( train station ) by the Gießenbachtal or Farchant over the Reschberg or from the west of Graswang on the Kuhalm and the dilapidated Gießenbach -Alm.

Exceeding the Notkarspitze can be exceeded with the head of the Near fields combine to a very long ridge walk on part only very small paths (about 7-8 hours from Ettal to Graswang ).
