Nowa Morawa

Nowa Morawa ( German Neumohrau also: New Mohrau ) is a village in the powiat Kłodzki in the Province of Lower Silesia in Poland. It belongs to the urban and rural community Stronie Śląskie, of which he is six kilometers south. The town is located 620-700 m above sea level near the border with the Czech Republic.

Geography and climate

Nowa Morawa is located on the upper Mohrau ( Morawka ) in Śnieżnik Mountains on the western slope of the mountain Biel. Through the village passes the road that go beyond the 817 m high space Berger Pass ( Przełęcz Płoszczyna; Czech: Kladske saddleback ) to Staré Město in Moravia leads. Neighboring towns are Stara Morawa and Bolesławów in the north, Młynowiec in the Northeast, the West and Kamienica Kletno in the northwest. Across the border to the Czech Republic are the Moravian towns Nová Seninka ( Spieglitz ), Nový Rumburk ( New Rumburg ) and Kunčice ( Kunz village).

The mountain location leads to a cool and rainy climate. The eight-kilometer south west 1405 meters high Snieznika / Glatzer Schneeberg is up to eight months of the year covered with snow.

History

Neumohrau was founded in 1596 as a colony of Altmohrau. It belonged to the county of Glatz and was in the possession of the Bohemian chamber. In 1684 it consisted of a board mill and 19 pieces people. In that year it acquired along with other chamber villages in the district of Landeck Glatzer Governor Michael Wenzel of Althann. He trained the acquired Dorfschaften dominion mountain side.

After the Silesian Wars Neumohrau coincided with the county of Glatz in 1763 with the Peace of Hubertusburg to Prussia. Beginning of the 19th century, it consisted of 32 gardeners and smallholdings. After the reorganization of Prussia belonged since 1815 to the province of Silesia and was first incorporated into the county of Glatz. 1818 was reclassified in the county Habelschwerdt with which it was connected until 1945. Since 1874 the rural community Neumohrau to the Official District Kamnitz and since 1908 for the district of Thal Wilhelm belonged. Since the end of the 19th century Neumohrau became a popular recreation and winter sports. 1939 counted 252 inhabitants.

As a result of World War II Neumohrau fell to Poland and was renamed Nowa Morawa. The number of inhabitants decreased significantly, which many houses were left to decay. In the years 1975-1998 Nowa Morawa was part of the Voivodeship Wałbrzych. Since the political changes of 1989 increases the tourist importance of Nowa Morawa.

Colony Mutiusgrund

The colony Mutiusgrund was created in 1792 by the then landlord of the mountain side, the royal counselor Franz Bernhard von Mutius on oxbows and Gellenau. She was later united with the village community Neumohrau 1815 and consisted of eight colonists houses.
