Nuño Sánchez

Nuno Sanchez of Roussillon ( Katalan.: Nunó or Nunyo Sanç, French: Nuno Sanche ) (c. 1185, † 1242 ) was Count of Cerdanya and Roussillon.

His father was Sancho, Sancha his mother out of the house Lara. From him he inherited in 1212 the counties of Cerdanya and Roussillon. 1215 his father married him to Peronella, daughter of Bernard IV of Bigorre. The marriage, however, was already in the following year by Pope Honorius III. canceled.

1213 came Nuño at the Battle of Muret too late to save the life of the King Peter II. In 1220 he married Teresa López, daughter of Lupus III. , Lord of Biscay. Since she had no children, were his lands and title at his death to the king. He was buried in the hospital of Bajoles, near Perpignan. He left an illegitimate son, the " bastard of Roussillon ," the 1284 city Elne the Aragonese Crusade defended.
