The School of Business and the environment Nürtingen ( HfWU ) is a public university with locations in Nürtingen and Geislingen, Baden- Württemberg.

History

On November 15, 1949, the predecessor of HfWU was founded as a " farming Higher School". Founding director was John Knecht. With three full-time teachers and 40 students was started in the early years so that a new type of agricultural education to establish. Under the following director Eduard Nohe 1970/71 the courses Landscape Management and Business Administration were established in 1972, the educational institution has been converted by Law of 6 February 1972 in the Nürtingen University. From April 1977 to August 2002 led Eduard Mändle as rector of the Nürtinger college. He was the longest-serving university president of the Federal Republic during his retirement. He was succeeded by Klaus Fischer for six years as rector of HfWU. He joined September 2007 Werner Ziegler as rector. Its successor took over on September 1, 2013 Prof. Dr. Andreas Frey, who came to HfWU of the University of Osnabrück.

The Nürtingen University received in 1988 in Geislingen a second location with the courses automobile economics, business law, real estate, health and tourism management, and energy and recycling management. There are 1,800 places available. With the enactment of the State Higher Education Act of January 5, 2005, the Senate has the name " School of Economics and the Environment Nürtingen " determined in the basic order.

2009, all activities in the field of "International Finance " in the European School of Finance ( ESF) have been combined. This includes both the bachelor's degree International Financial Management and the Master's Degree Programme in International Finance with all teaching and research activities. Within the framework of the Bologna process for the internationalization of qualifications all diploma courses were converted into bachelor's degree programs.

Today the HfWU owns next to the agricultural economy one of the major business schools in Baden -Württemberg. On 24 April 2012, the university received along with their AN- Institute, the European Institute of Financial Engineering and Derivatives (EIFD ), the Education Award 2011, the Education Foundation awarded. It was about a project that has life-long learning in conjunction with new teaching methods to the content. It is a subproject of the Certified Financial Engineer ( CFE) program.

Since 2012, the HfWU has the Bodensee campus a location in Constance and offers Bachelor's degree programs health and tourism management and sports and event management.

The HfWU maintains contact with over sixty partner universities worldwide.

Institutes and Research

The Institute Center for Applied Research ( IAF) is a central scientific institution of the university. The IAF is the implementation of application-oriented research and development projects and service contracts as part of the educational mission of the university. Here, the IAF contributes to interdisciplinary collaboration of professors at, helping them to acquire third-party -funded projects and helps them in handling and coordination of research and development projects and service contracts.

Locations

  • Nürtingen: The HfWU has Nuertingen three locations: One is the historical building in the center of Nürtingen. The old building is made of various administrative and lecture halls and is also home to the modern cafeteria. Secondly, the clinker - building with the large main library, located in the southeast of the city. In addition, the HfWU also features the semi-forward control area, which is only 300 meters north of the old building situated.

In addition, the university has with the Hofgut in Tachenhausen has an agricultural teaching and research as well as operating with the court Jungborn in the Tiefenbach one used mainly for the degree course in horse management operation.

  • Geislingen: The HfWU is present in Geislingen with the bachelor's degree programs automotive industry, business administration, real estate, business law, energy and resource management, health and tourism management. The four buildings of the university are located near the train station.
