The Nuthe at Walternienburg

The Nuthe is a right tributary of the Elbe in the district of Anhalt- Bitterfeld, in the east of Saxony-Anhalt.

Description

The upper reaches of the Nuthe consists of three source streams (also called " Nuthe arms "), and the spring in the southwestern Flaming ( between Wiesenburg / Mark and Zerbst / Anhalt ), namely from

  • The northern Nuthe - their source is located between Nedlitz and Reuden ( Hagendorfer Nuthe, Lindauer in the lower reaches Nuthe )
  • The middle Nuthe that springs to Grimme ( Grimmer Nuthe ) and
  • The southern Nuthe their source between Jeber Mountain Peace and Stackelitz is ( Boner Nuthe ).

According to water ratio Lindauer Nuthe is to be regarded as the origin of Nuthe and the other two as inflows.

The northern Nuthe- source river flows to the small town of Lindau in a southwesterly direction, turns south at the spur of the castle Lindau, and joins in with the Zernitz coming from the east middle Nuthe. After another five kilometers run in a southerly direction the southern Nuthe encounters in the city of Zerbst / Anhalt so. Combines the Nuthe flows in a westerly direction to the mouth of the Elbe ( district Gödnitz ) opposite the town of Barby (Elbe ).

The river has a length of 39 km - the northern or southern source river included (34 km length with middle frontal flow ). The Valley of northern Nuthe partly follows the railway line from Bad Belzig about Güterglück to Calbe (Saale ), the Valley of southern Nuthe the Federal Highway 187a of Zerbst Hundeluft to Coswig (Anhalt).

From the source to the mouth of the river sets 50 vertical meters (from about 100 to 50 m above sea level. NN ).

The river is named for the community Nutha and the former administrative community Elbe- Ehle Nuthe in the district of Anhalt- Bitterfeld.
