Nycticebus borneanus

Nycticebus borneanus is a wet nose primacy from the kind of slow lorises, the south of the island of Borneo, after which it was named, occurs.

Features

Nycticebus borneanus achieved an average head -body length of 26.1 cm and is similar in body shape to the other slow lorises. A characteristic feature of the species are color and shape of dark brown face mask around the eyes, which is mostly centered, above the eyes but has a diffuse - edged shape. The face mask is not enough down to below the zygomatic arch. The "crown" ( crown patch ), the extending to the top of the head portion of the face mask is often round, but sometimes formed as a band. Between the eyes there is a variable wide, white stripes. The ears are hairy, the colored band in the ears is wide.

Dissemination

Nycticebus borneanus lives in the central southern Borneo south of the Kapuas and Barito to the east, but not in the extreme southwest. Type locality is the region of Sakaiam River in the District Sanggau in western Kalimantan. The distribution area overlaps probably partially with that of Nycticebus bancanus.
