Obertyn

Obertyn (Ukrainian Обертин; Russian Obertin ) is an urban-type settlement in Rajon Tlumach in the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast in western Ukraine southeast of the city of Ivano -Frankivsk. The site has partnered with The incorporated village Hontschariw / Гончарів about 4000 inhabitants.

History

The town was founded around the year 1256. In 1531 won close to Obertyn the Polish army warlord, Jan Tarnowski about the Romanians. Several high grave mound are received towards the neighboring village Chotymyr. By 1945, the village belonged to the administrative area Kolomea. The number of inhabitants has not changed significantly in the last 70 years. A farm machinery factory was shut down after 1990. The Roman Catholic Church has a parish set up and sent a Polish priest who stands up next to the Christian religion for the Pan-Slavism.
