Obluchye

Oblutschje (Russian Облучье ) is a rajonunterstellte city in the Jewish Autonomous Oblast in the Russian Far East and also the second largest city of the territory. It is located around 160 km west of the regional capital Birobidzhan, on-Amur tributary Chingan. The town has 9379 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

History

Oblutschje was written in 1911 as a station settlement in the course of laying a railway stretch of the Trans-Siberian Railway. The place name is of Russian origin and means something like " bypass " because the railway line makes a large curve around several mountains around in this area. The city status was given Oblutschje in 1938.

Economy and infrastructure

In the city the gold mining company Soloto Sutary is established. Also in Oblutschje railroad shops and a railway station on the Trans-Siberian railway. In addition, there is a Russian Orthodox church.
