Octavian Grigore

Octavian " Tavi " Grigore ( born July 15, 1964 in Urlaţi ) is a former Romanian football player and current coach. The central defender played 441 games in the Romanian Divizia A.

Career as a player

Grigore played throughout his career as a football player for Petrolul Ploieşti. Emerged from the youth of the club he came into the first team of the club, which played into the Divizia B in 1981. After the climb at the end of the season he came on August 7, 1982 at home against Corvinul Hunedoara his first appearance in the top Romanian football league, the Divizia A. He remained Petrolul get 19 years as a player and held the club even after two downs faithful in the years 1984 and 1988. The greatest successes of his career are the qualification for the UEFA Cup in 1990/91 and winning the cup in 1995, when he was captain of the team also each. Career as a coach

Even towards the end of his active career Grigore worked as an assistant coach of his club Petrolul Ploieşti. After hanging up in 2000, the football boots on the nail, he took Petrolistul Boldesti in Divizia C. He missed twice just move up to the Divizia B. In 2002, he received the opportunity to his old club Petrolul to take over as head coach after it was relegated to the B Divizia. Over the winter break 2003/ 04 Grigore joined the Divizia B Unirea Urziceni, where he was released in February 2004 for a friendly match. He subsequently worked at International Pitesti and Dunărea Galaţi Grigore was committed on 30 June 2006 as coach of second division FCM Targoviste, but had his position in October 2006 after the 12th matchday of the league II Place 2006/ 07. He then agreed with Farul Constanta on a coaching job as the successor of Ion Marin, who also temporarily held the post of sporting director. However, when Grigore came to sign the contract to Constanta on 31 October 2006, he was informed that under its Basarab Panduru had been chosen as the new coach. Later in the season 2006/ 07 Grigore trained yet Chimia Brazi and returned back end of April 2007 as the successor of Marin Barbu to Petrolul, but could not secure the ascent with the playing in the Liga II club.

In July 2008 he signed a contract with the second division CFR Timişoara, in which the businessman Iulian Capeti was entered as a new patron, after its plans to build a second-division club in Fagaras, could not be implemented. As Grigore returned with his players from training camp in Austria, his contract early August 2008 was redissolved because Capeti had since left the club and the new patron Georgică Cornu previous assistant coach Florin Bugar preferred as the new head coach.

After a year in which between time-resolved second division FC Bacau StiinTa he trained up to 8 September 2010 Chimia Brazi in the League III.
