Costel Orac

Costel Orac ( born January 22, 1959 in Galaţi ) is a former Romanian football player and current coach. The striker played 308 games in Divizia A, the highest Romanian football league.

Career as a player

Orac began his career in his hometown at Politehnica Galaţi. In 1971, he moved at the age of twelve years to FC Galaţi. There he moved in 1976 to the squad for the first team, which had risen this year in the Divizia A and now took the new name FCM Galaţi. His Erstligadebüt he was in the home defeat against Jiul Petrosani on August 22, 1976 at the age of 17 years and established himself in his first season as a regular player, but could not prevent relegation in 1977 as severed Table. Then Orac left his hometown and moved to the top club Dinamo Bucharest in the capital. Half a year later he joined Unirea Focsani in Divizia B, where he finished his career in 1992.

National

Orac played between 1984 and 1986 a total of three games for the Romanian national team. National coach Mircea Lucescu appointed him in July 1984 in his squad for international duty to China, where he made his debut against the hosts on 29 July 1984, was able to achieve his single hit. However Orac could Lucescu not convince you, because only in March 1986, he was part of the squad for two friendlies against Iraq, where he played his last two matches.

Career as a coach

After the end of his active career of Master of Sports was his former club in the season 1993/94 renamed to Acord Focsani, loyal as a coach. In 1994 he took over the league rivals FC Selena Bacau, with his 1995 promotion to, while his former club were relegated in the Divizia C. During the winter break the following season the club, who took under the name AS Bacau stood on the bottom of the table and separated from Orac. This changed during the second half in the first Cypriot League to Alki Larnaca, where he remained until the fall of 1996. Upon his return to Romania he was in the first half of the season 1997/98 Co - Coach of Adrian Hârlab at FC Braşov in Divizia B. In the second half of the 1999/2000 season he coached the second division FC Bihor Oradea, with him on the last round of the league succeeded. He then became manager of Poiana Campina, which took in the other second division season and acted as a satellite team of Dinamo Bucharest. However Orac changed hands during the 2000/ 01 season to the second division team FC Baia Mare. With this he reached the end of the season the relegation games in which the team against NC Foresta Suceava was able to prevail. The club sold the place, however, for financial reasons to FCM Bacau, so that the FC Baia Mare remained in Divizia B. In 2002, the club again participated in the play-offs for promotion, but failed to Farul Constanta. Orac then left in July 2002, the club towards Oţelul Galaţi. At the end of the 2002/ 03 Oţelul ranked only 13th place and had in the relegation matches against FC Oradea, the representative from the Divizia B compete. Although penetrated the enemy, Oţelul was allowed to remain top notch, as the two local rivals Astra Ploieşti and FC Petrolul Ploiesti merged in the summer of 2003 and thereby a place in the upper house was free. In the season 2003/ 04, the club parted after the first round of him.

On 27 April 2004 he took over from Florin Danciu at FC Botosani in Divizia C, with which he returned at the end of the season in the Divizia B and there managed to avoid relegation in the 2004/05 season. Then it took the league competitor Unirea Urziceni under contract, where he managed to carve out 2006. Once in the upper house Unirea separated in September 2006 by him and replaced him with Dan Petrescu. After Marian Pană had left the second division CS Otopeni early 2007, Orac was succeeded on March 28, 2007. After missing out on promotion to the Liga 1 he left the club in the summer of 2007 and was replaced by Liviu Ciobotariu. On November 3, 2007 Orac was bound to succeed head coach Cristian Popovici of the second division FCM Bacau, but could pick just one win in seven league games and was subsequently replaced on 16 March 2008 by his predecessor.

In the 2008 /09 season he was the successor to Emil Ursu as coach of the second team of Dinamo Bucharest, who played in the League II. On 24 June 2009 he was engaged by Dinamo as assistant coach of the Italian Dario Bonetti, however, acted officially as head coach since Bonetti did not yet possess the necessary per license. October 3, 2009 Bonetti was dismissed and Orac returned as successor by Gheorghe Mihali as head coach for the second team of Dinamo back to the Liga II. At the end of the 2009/10 season, the descent was made in the League III and Orac had as coach Ioan Viorel Ganea after leave. On 20 July 2010 Costel Orac was appointed technical director of the second division CS Concordia Chiajna and also replaced mid-October 2010, after the 8th round of the 2010/11 season, the former head coach Laurentiu Dinita. During the winter break with failed fusion with the first division club Unirea Urziceni, after Dinita had to intervene again as a player into the action. When the desired ascent was in danger Orac was released on 5 May 2011 as a trainer and Dinita again took over the role of the players coach. At the end of the season the club finished second in the Season 1 Piatra Neamţ behind Ceahlăul and rose for the first time in the top division of the country. Since 1st November 2011 Orac is the successor of Marius Popescu head coach of FC Botosani in the League II, a post he had to leave in September 2012.
