1988–89 Divizia A

The Divizia A 1988/89 was the 51th season in the history of Romanian football league Divizia A. It began on August 21, 1988 and ended on 20 June 1989. From mid-December to early March rested the game operation ( winter break ). Champion for the fifth time in a row Steaua Bucharest.

Regulate

The Divizia A played with 18 teams. The three last-place teams were relegated in the Divizia B. For a victory, there were two points for a draw and one point for a loss no points.

Course

Like the 1987/88 season and this season Steaua Bucharest and Dinamo Bucharest was dominated. Steaua reached as many point as never any other team in Divizia A. The team was only at Dinamo (0:0), Universitatea Cluj ( 2-2) and FCM Braşov ( 2:2 ) from points. The preliminary decision in the fight for the championship fell when Dinamo 1:2 lost on 22 March 1989 at Steaua and was beaten on May 3, 0-1 to FC Olt.
