Ola & the Janglers

Ola & the Janglers was a Swedish rock band from Sollentuna, which was in the 1960s, especially in their home very well known and the genre of garage rock has been assigned.

Career

Founded in 1962 the group of Ola Håkansson under the influence of the British Invasion, which was also felt in Scandinavia. The first single from the other recordings then appeared in 1964 under the name "The Janglers with Ola ", under " Ola & the Janglers ".

The group was particularly influenced by the two British bands Manfred Mann and The Zombies. Mostly they played a cover versions. Her first hit single in Sweden was the 1965 recording She's Not There, published in 1964 by the original zombies. More hits mainly in Sweden have included 1966 Poetry in Motion ( Johnny Tillotson, 1960 ), 1967 Runaway ( Del Shannon, 1961) or 96 Tears in 1966 (Question Mark & the Mysterians, 1966).

With the song Let's Dance, originally performed by Chris Montez in 1962, they succeeded on May 24, first time in 1969 made ​​it into the U.S. charts. They reached number 92 and stayed three weeks. It was the first singles chart listing a Swedish band ever in the United States.

Ola founded in 1979, the pop group Secret Service, in which then also the drummer Leif Johansson was involved.
