Old Westbury Gardens

Old Westbury Gardens is a former private country house in Old Westbury in Nassau County on the peninsula of Long Iceland, New York, USA. The property is passed in the U.S., the National Register of Historic Places, is now a museum with display gardens and is simultaneously used for cultural events of all kinds or private celebrations, such as weddings. Since 1958, the villa has been increasingly used as a backdrop for Hollywood films. Public tours were one year later, in 1959, also possible.

History

Was occupied by the 23 -room country estate once by the builder John S. Phipps ( 1874-1958 ), his wife, Margarita Grace Phipps and their four children. Phipps promised his wife to the start of construction in 1903, that he would build her a mansion that resembled his possession, into their native England Battle Abbey. Completed after three years of construction in 1906 by the English designer George A. Visiting hours

Old Westbury Gardens is open to the public. On the spacious grounds of the estate there is a souvenir and gift shop, a vegetable shop and a café.
