Oligosarcus robustus

Oligosarcus is a genus of carnivorous tetras, which occurs ( Southeast Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay ) in the central South America. You're missing in the Amazon basin.

Features

The Oligosarcus species are elongated and are 7.7 to 28 inches long. The head profile is convex or rises evenly. Their muzzle is pointed, the muzzle is longer or the same length as the eye diameter. The jaws are exclusively occupied with sharp fangs. When the mouth is closed the first Fang of the lower jaw is still visible. The dorsal fin is short, crescent- shaped and is located behind the center of the body. An adipose fin is present. The caudal fin is deeply forked.

Outer systematics

Oligosarcus currently no subfamily assigned. The genus belongs with three other genera monophyletic clade within a of the Real tetras which is called Bramocharax clade.
