Olive (Band)

Olive was a Dance-/Breakbeat-/Trip-Hop-Formation from Northern England, which was in the late 1990s active. The founding members were Tim Kellett (producer, instrumentalist and songwriter, formerly with Simply Red ), Robin Taylor - Firth (producer, keyboards, sequencing ) and Ruth -Ann Boyle (vocals ). The band issued two albums, the second without Taylor - Firth, who had already left the band.

Olive was founded in 1997 by the single You're Not Alone shot to fame and reached # 1 on the British charts.

Reception

At the Ivor Novello Award in 1997 Kellett and Taylor Firth received on May 28, 1998 Best Dance Music Award for You're Not Alone. The song was covered in 2002 by the German producer ATB. Another cover was released by the Dane Mads Langer early 2011. During the trickle- tour of America, the band went on the assumption that 60 to 70 percent of their audience was gay. This was also the reason why they had their final appearance at the San Francisco Pride.
