Olivet is a city in Eaton County in the U.S. state of Michigan. According to 2000 census 1,758 inhabitants live in Olivet.

History

Olivet was established in 1844, when Rev. John J. Shipherd the Olivet College founded. The place got its name from the Mount of Olives. 1865 Olivet received a charter as a Village, the incorporation as a city took place in 1958.

The historian Golo Mann taught here in the fall of 1942 until the summer of 1943 story.

Geography

The later priestess and Suffragette Augusta Jane Chapin began her studies in 1852 at the Olivet collage. Even William W. Blackney, who belonged to the House of Representatives of the United States in eight legislative sessions, attended this school.
