Olívio Aurélio Fazza

Olívio Aurélio Fazza SVD ( born June 25, 1925 in Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, Brazil, † December 25, 2008 in Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná, Brazil) was Bishop of Foz do Iguaçu.

Life

Olívio Aurélio Fazza initially worked in banking and joined in 1948 the Congregation of the Divine Word Missionaries in São Paulo at. He studied philosophy from 1949 to 1951 and from 1952 to 1955 Catholic Theology in São Paulo, later Family Studies in São Paulo and Rome. He received on 5 March 1955, the ordination. He was from 1955 to 1958 teachers and educators at the Divine Word Missionaries, 1959-1962 teacher at the minor seminary in Toledo and 1963-1975 novice master and a pastor in Sao Paulo. From 1975 to 1978 he was provincial superior of his congregation in São Paulo.

In 1978 he was appointed by Pope Paul VI. appointed second bishop of the Diocese of Foz do Iguaçu, in the southwest of the state of Paraná. He received his episcopal consecration on 12 August 1978, the Archbishop of Juiz de Fora, Geraldo María de Morais Penido; Co-consecrators were the auxiliary bishops in São Paulo, Francisco Manuel Vieira and Luciano Pedro Mendes de Almeida SJ. His motto was: In uno Spiritu.

His resignation was accepted in 2001 by Pope John Paul II.
