Omar Koroma

Omar Alieu Koroma ( born October 22, 1989 in Banjul) is a Gambian footballer who plays for Forest Green Rovers.

Career

Association

Omar Koroma played from 2007 to 2008 in his native Gambia in Banjul Hawks. In October 2007, he completed a trial with English club Watford FC. In Watford he impressed by his performance, but was not able to pick up location, a work permit. He also coached at FC Southampton, but even there he could not get a contract. In July 2008 he had a trial with some friendship and pre-season games at FC Portsmouth. There, too, he left impression and he was offered a permanent contract. This time he got a work permit because he married an English partner.

Shortly after the signing of the contract, Norwich City struggled to a lending transaction with Koroma. On 4 August 2008, the then manager Harry Redknapp announced that they could agree with the Hawks Banjul, but Koroma was immediately awarded for one year at Norwich City. His first game for Norwich, he completed on 9 August in the 0-2 defeat against Coventry City, where he came into the game as a substitute. In December 2008, he suffered a severe ankle injury that was operated on in January 2009, he had a forced break of ten to twelve weeks. He then returned in late January to Portsmouth back, played from there but only in the reserve team and his contract was not renewed in June 2010.

In December 2010, he completed a trial in the Danish club Brøndby IF.

In April 2012, he trained at the Forest Green Rovers and scored the 2-1 against the reserve team of Crawley Town. In May Koroma signed a three - year contract with the Rovers. On August 27, he made his debut for Rovers against Kidderminster Harriers, but was referenced 34 minutes of the field.

National

Koroma was nominated in September 2008 as part of the qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2010 for the games against Liberia on September 6 and October 11 against Senegal. In the 3-0 victory over Liberia, he came on in the 88th minute for Njogu Demba - Nyrén. Even in the 1-1 draw against Senegal, he was used, this time was again a substitute in the 85th minute for Demba - Nyrén.
