One Touch of Venus

One Touch of Venus is a musical by Kurt Weill (music) and Ogden Nash (lyrics ). The book is by SJ Perelman and Ogden Nash after the Pygmalion -inspired fabric story, The Tinted Venus by F. Anstey ( Thomas Anstey Guthrie pseudonym of (s) ). The premiere took place on October 7, 1943 at the Imperial Theatre (s) in New York. It was directed by Elia Kazan, the role of Venus was played by Mary Martin. The musical was successful with 567 performances of Weill's Broadway show.
