Oravská Polhora

Orava Polhora ( until 1948 slovak " Polhora "; Hungarian Polhora - 1882-1888 Árvapolhora, Polish and goralisch Orawska Półgóra / Polhora ) is a municipality in the north of Slovakia. It is the northernmost municipality in the country, is located in the area of the Beskydy Oravské about 22 km from Námestovo and 5 km from the border crossing to Poland away.

The village was first mentioned in writing in 1550 as Polgora. The name Polhora is from the situation of the municipality, which is determined equally by the mountain massif of Babia hora derived.

Most of the inhabitants speak a dialect Goral.
