Oravská Poruba

Orava Poruba (Slovak to 1950 Poruba - Geceľ - to 1927 - Poruba Gecel; Hungarian Poruba ) is a municipality in the north - central Slovakia with 1030 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011), the kraj Okres in Dolny Kubin within the Žilinský and also lies in the traditional landscape Orava.

Geography

The municipality is located in the mountainous region Orava Highlands on the left bank of the Orava. The 13.26 km ² large municipality is mostly hilly and forested only in the peripheral areas. The center is located at an altitude of 470 m nm and is four kilometers from Dolny Kubin away.

Administratively divided the community into the church and parts of Orava Poruba Zábrež (1950 amalgamated ). ( Also written Gäceľ ) The after 1902 is my finished Geceľ place, however, is not a part of the municipality.

History

Orava Poruba was in a clearing in the early 14th century, founded by settlers from Veličná and was first mentioned in 1350 as the Jablon writing. The name refers to the brook, mentioned by name in 1347 as Jablonpataka. The present name is mentioned in 1393 and used since about 1547 through the only name listed. The village belonged to the manor of Orava Castle and was administered by hereditary judges Porubský and Zolo. After a tax list in 1547, the village had nine Porta. 1778 were counted 256 residents who were mainly employed in agriculture and as day laborers.

Until 1918, belonged to the lying in the county Arwa place the Kingdom of Hungary and came after Czechoslovakia or Slovakia today.

Population

According to the 2011 census lived in Orava Poruba 1,025 inhabitants, of whom 1,005 Slovaks and one Roma and Czech. 18 inhabitants did not know. 620 inhabitants known to the Protestant Church of the, 316 inhabitants to the Roman Catholic church, five residents of United Methodist Church and one population to the Greek Catholic Church and the Mormons. 45 residents were non-denominational and 37 inhabitants, the denomination is not determined.
