Order of Merit of the Free State of Saxony

The Saxon Merit was donated by the Minister President of the Free State of Saxony, Kurt Biedenkopf on October 27, 1996, outstanding contributions to the Free State of Saxony. He is considered the highest honor of Saxony and was (exactly one year after its foundation) first awarded on 27 October 1997.

Purpose of the Foundation

I. As a sign of grateful recognition for outstanding contributions to the Free State of Saxony and the population of the Order of Merit of the Free State of Saxony is donated. It is awarded to domestic and foreign personalities for services that serve the public good, in particular in the political, social, cultural and economic fields as well as in the field of environment.

Classification and appearance

II The Order of Merit is awarded in a class. It consists of a both sides enamelled white eight pointed cross with green trim and golden version. The gold rimmed white middle plate shows on the front of the small coat of arms of the Free State of Saxony. The reverse bears in the green center of the inscription: For merits and white ring the transcription state of Saxony. On the lower cross arm the Foundation in 1996 is given. The Order of Merit is worn by men in a gold combined white- light green - green ribbon around the neck of women below the left shoulder at a corresponding ribbon bow. Instead of the Order of the Cross a miniature of men can be worn on a white-green band of ladies on a corresponding ribbon bow. Details shall be determined by the enclosed facility.

Award number

III. The number of religious owner may not be higher than 500. If a religious employer as a result of death or for other reasons the number of orders from owner, this can be complemented within the specified limit.

Ceremony Relevance

IV earned personalities from all parts of the population should be considered as evenly as possible. The merits should be mainly benefited from the Free State of Saxony and its population. It is to concern exceptional performance over a longer period or a very unusual single act that has the auszuzeichnende person provided for the general public. The performance of a professional duty or the work for its own acquisition company alone does not justify the award. Awards, which is based on only an external event such as an anniversary, birthday or the relinquishment of office, are not eligible. Merits in the public service can only be a matter of ceremony, if they go far beyond the fulfillment of the civil service official duties or employment contract obligations. A ceremony to judge for acquired in their official earnings is excluded.

Vorschlageberechtigung

V. Nominations may be made by the President of the Landtag for the members and staff of the Parliament and members of the state government. The competence depends on the under assessment performance. Ceremonies initiative of the Prime Minister remain unaffected.

Awarding of title

VI. A conviction for a criminal offense, as it can be held by the Federal Central Criminal Register Act, includes the award of the Order of Merit. An award also ruled out with fitness defects under Article 119 of the Constitution of the Free State of Saxony. (including making a former employee of the Ministry for State Security ( Stasi ) meant )

Withdrawing

VII The Order of Merit is subsequently disallowed, if there are compelling grounds for refusal under the above provisions occur or become known. It can be revoked upon conviction to fines for negligent acts of crime. The disqualification shall be declared by the Prime Minister. The Order of Merit, Order of the miniature and the award certificate are to be returned.

Ceremony suggestions

VIII suggestions on receiving the Order of Merit may be submitted by anyone on the proposal entitled. The suggestions to be considered by the proposal entitled, and to send the State with a statement of the alleged merits.

Ceremony practice

IX. The Prime Minister and the President of the Parliament received the Order of Merit by virtue of office. The Order of Merit is the prime minister reserved. With the issuance of the Order of Merit and the Order of the excellent miniature person receives a statement signed by the Prime Minister award certificate. It is stamped with the official seal of the Free State.

X. The Order of Merit will be published in the Official Journal of Saxony.
