Ornain

Flow through Bar-le- Duc

The Ornain is a river in France, which runs in the regions of Lorraine and Champagne- Ardenne. It is formed by the confluence of the headwaters Maldite and Ognon just above Gondrecourt -le- Château. The river drains initially in a northwesterly direction, pivots at Revigny -sur- Ornain but on Southwest and ends after about 106 kilometers at Étrepy as a right tributary to the Saulx. On their way the Ornain crosses the départements Meuse and Marne. Between Houdelaincourt and the mouth runs parallel to the river of Marne au Rhin Canal de la, or its branch duct after Houdelaincourt. The flow is used for the water supply to the channel.
