The Ōsaki Station (Japanese大 崎 駅, -eki Ōsaki ) is located in Shinagawa in Tokyo Prefecture.

The Ōsaki station is one of the stations where the trains turn the Yamanote Line, resume operation and exit. In order to avoid interference by running trains, this station has four tracks that are used only by the Yamanote Line. The Saikyo line begins and the Rinkai line ends here.

History

On February 25, 1901, the station was opened and began operations. On October 14, 1902, the clearance of goods was taken. Since October 21, 1909 Ōsaki is served by the Yamanote line and was destroyed on May 24, 1945 near a fire in an air raid in World War II. On October 1, 1980, the adjustment of the clearance of goods. Since March 16, 1996 and December 1, 2002, the Saikyo and Rinkai line drive to the train station as well.

Design and tracks

The station was built in the commonly encountered construction of a railway station in the form of a through station. The 8 tracks are served by four central platforms from. The tracks 1 to 4 are used only by the Yamanote Line, tracks 1 and 2 towards Shinagawa and Tokyo, the tracks 3 and 4 in Shibuya and Ikebukuro. A respective track for each direction is in this case at the beginning and ending of the operation used in order not to obstruct the passing trains. The tracks 5 to 8 are used in parallel by the Saikyo and Rinkai line on the tracks 5 and 8 are additionally trains the Shonan - Shinjuku line added.

The Ōsaki station is served by the JR East lines Saikyo, Shonan - Shinjuku Yamanote and on the Rinkai line of Tōkyō Rinkai Kosoku tetsudō, latter line starts here. The Saikyo line starts here. The colors used in the table below correspond to the respective companies awarded by the color codes of the lines.

Environment

Near the train station, among other things, the Catholic University for Women, Seisen University is (清泉 女子 大学, Seisen joshi daigaku ) and the Rissho University (立正 大学, Rissho Daigaku ).

Also located within walking distance of the railway station, the Japanese venue of the musical Cats.

In addition, Sony has its headquarters near the train station.

Use

In 2007, the station from an average of 115 483 passengers was used on the day, so that the rank 26 took over 900 on the ranking of the busiest train stations of JR East in 2007. In 2006, the Rinkai line from an average of 80 197 passengers was used on the day.
