Óscar Muñoz

Óscar Luis Muñoz Oviedo ( born May 9, 1993) is a Colombian Taekwondo. It starts in the weight class up to 58 kg.

Muñoz takes part in international competitions since 2010. In the category up to 55 kg, he reached at the Junior World Championship in Tijuana the quarter-finals and also took in Singapore at the Youth Olympic Games, where he also reached the quarter- finals, but was eliminated there. In the adult area, he denied the Panamerican Championship in Monterrey and won bronze in the under 58 kg his first international medal. Muñoz denied the Pan American Games 2011 in Guadalajara, but was disqualified in the class up to 58 kg in the quarterfinals. At the Pan-American Olympic qualifying competition in Santiago de Querétaro, he won his weight class in the final against Heiner Oviedo and secured his participation in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. There he won the bronze medal.

Muñoz is trained by Alvaro Vidal. He received from the Comité Olímpico Colombiano an athletic scholarship that allows him to participate in international competitions.
