" Scandal " on the part of Iran

On 16 August 2010, the final of Taekwondo should be discharged to 48 kg, for an Israeli and an Iranian participants had qualified. Before the finale, however, told the Iranian support team that Mohammad Soleimani was so badly injured in the leg, that a final participation was impossible for him. Observers assumed that the Iranian team their athletes do not have to be an Israeli fighting, because Iran does not consider Israel as a sovereign state and it would have been a disgrace to the Iranians, having to stand at the awards ceremony under an Israeli flag.

The Israeli athlete won the final then without a fight. The next day, the IOC expressed this: " Given the current situation, we assume that he was injured. " ( IOC vice president Thomas Bach ), " Soleimani has been x-rayed and has an ankle injury. The leg is not broken " (IOC spokesman Mark Adams). This would not stir from which many news agencies and media spoke rashly. However, it would not have been the first case that athletes from Iran not compete against Israeli athletes.
