Life

Origin

Oskar von Redwitz was born in Lichtenau, near Ansbach, on 28 June 1823. He comes from the formerly rich immediate Frankish noble family of Redwitz and was the son of Bavarian officials Ludwig von Redwitz (1779-1848) and his wife Anna née Miller, the niece of the poet Johann Martin Miller.

Life transition

After attending schools in Speyer and Zweibrücken studied v. Redwitz in Munich and Erlangen. Since 1843 he was a member of the Corps Franconia Munich.

After that Redwitz contender for the Bavarian civil service ( 1846-49 ). Subsequently, he studied languages ​​and literature at Bonn ( 1849-50 ) and in 1851 professor of aesthetics and history of literature at the University of Vienna.
