The Easter ( Остер ) in the catchment area of the Desna
The river Oster ( Остер Ukrainian, Russian Остёр ( Ostjor ) ) is a river in the northern Ukrainian Oblast Chernihiv with a length of 199 km.
The source is located near the urban-type settlement Dmytriwka on the western foothills of the Poltava Plateau. From there, the river flows through the counties Bakhmach, Borsna, Nizhyn, Nosiwka, Bobrowycja and Easter before it opens at Easter in the Desna. The river is connected by canals with the river Trubisch, which flows south-west of Kiev in the Dnieper.
Among the important settlements on the river include Nizhyn, Kozelets and Easter.
