Oswald Tötsch

Oswald Tötsch (born 17 January 1964 in Sterzing ) is an Italian former Alpine skier. The South Tyrolean belonged 1982-1990 on the Italian national ski team and was specialized in the technical disciplines slalom and giant slalom. Since his retirement from active winter sports Tötsch operates with his wife, a hotel in his home town of Meadows / Pfitsch.

Career

A first international success came Tötsch in March 1982, when he left the Swede Johan Wallner won the silver medal at the Junior World Championships in Auron. A year later he won the slalom by Mark Stone his first World Cup points in 1984 Italian Champion in slalom.

Tötsch belonged in the 1980s behind Alberto Tomba of the most consistent riders in the Italian team. Between 1984 and 1988 he ran 17 times in the top ten. However, the large individual triumph was denied. Only three times he was after a race on the podium. His best World Cup finish was second place in the slalom in Kitzbuehel in February 1985.

1984 and 1988 he was a member of the Italian Olympic Team and took part in the 1985 and 1987 World Championships. His playing career ended Tötsch 1990. Today he operates in meadows near Sterzing a hotel.
