Outer Schwyz

The Canton Ausserschwyz, officially Canton Schwyz outer territory, 1831-1833 was the half canton of Switzerland.

In 1831, the three districts Except Schwyzer Front yard wanted (now the town of Pfäffikon ), March and Einsiedeln and the District Küssnacht split off as part of the regeneration movement from the Canton of Schwyz, to form its own canton. The main reason was the political worse position compared to the " altgefryten " part of the canton and the refusal of the conservative Schwyzer to take a constitutional revision within the meaning of the liberal movement in attack.

The remaining half-canton was called Innerschwyz. In addition to the old part of the country belonged to the rear yard, which corresponds to the church today Wollerau.

The Provisional Administration of the Canton Ausserschwyz was already appointed on 6 January 1831 the Liberal People's Assembly in laughter. The constitution of the half canton was only after further attempts at mediation on April 27, 1832., The Diet approved the Canton Ausserschwyz provisionally on 29 April 1833 to let Landammann Joachim Schmid as the official ambassador for the confederate hearing about.

As Schwyz it on July 31, 1833 by force under Colonel Theodore ex- Yberg proceeded against Küssnacht and occupied the district, the Diet intervened militarily in Schwyz and forced an agreement between the parties. The so-called " Küssnachter trade " was terminated on October 23, 1833 by the introduction of a new constitution, was granted by the full political equality of rights throughout the Canton. The cost of the federal intervention of 400'000 CHF should first be imposed in full Innerschwyz, but were finally reduced to 100,000 Fr.

The capital of the canton Ausserschwyz was alternately laughing and Einsiedeln.

It was not until 1848, united the rear yard with the Front Yard to the district courts.
