Pablo Mastroeni

Pablo Mastroeni ( born August 26, 1976 in Mendoza, Argentina) is an American football player of Argentine descent. Currently, he plays in the North American football professional league Major League Soccer with the Colorado Rapids. He is the captain of the team.

Youth and College

Mastroeni came at the age of four with his family to the U.S. and settled in Phoenix, Arizona. He attended the public Thunderbird High School in the northwest of the city and played football for Santos Futbol Clube.

From 1994 to 1997, he attended North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina. There he played for four years for the college team NC State Wolfpack.

Professional career

In 1998 he was selected by Miami Fusion in the MLS College Draft and played from his second year at Fusion regularly. Overall, he stood at 100 MLS games on the court, scoring 2 goals. He was appointed to the MLS Best XI in 2001 and won with the team the MLS Supporters' Shield.
