Paco Bienzobas

Francisco Ocáriz Biénzobas ( born March 26, 1909 in San Sebastián, † 30 April 1981), also known as Paco Biénzobas, was a Spanish footballer.

Career as a football player

Association

Biénzobas played in his youth for Unión Deportiva de San Sebastián, a small sports club in his hometown. At age 17, he was taken from Real Sociedad under contract. In his first season with the club he won the Regional Championship of Gipuzkoa. 1928 reached to the final of the Copa del Rey, but lost in the second playoff with 1:3 against FC Barcelona. A year later Biénzobas took with his club on the first season of the newly formed Primera División part. He then won in the 1928/29 season with 14 goals first award of the scorer this league and finished the game with his team year in fourth place. Over the next four years, however, Real Sociedad came as no parking in the secure midfield addition.

1934 left Biénzobas the Basque country and moved to CA Osasuna in the Segunda División. In his first season he helped the club to promotion from Pamplona. The following season, however, one rose as Table once again. Then the Spanish Civil War paralyzed the operation of gambling and Biénzobas ' career on hold.

After the war Biénzobas returned to Real Sociedad. By now also playing in the Segunda División club he managed a further rise. Then he graduated from in the season 1941/42, a few games in the Primera División, before he finished the season end his career as a professional footballer.

National

Biénzobas played two games for the Spanish national team. His debut at the Olympic Games celebrated in 1928, when Spain lost in the quarter-finals with 1:7 against Italy. His second and last match he played on April 14, 1929 against France. This game won Spain - also thanks to two goals from Biénzobas - 8-1.

Career as a referee

After the end of his career as a professional footballer himself Biénzobas decided in 1942 to a career as a referee. Through his compelling performances he conducted in 1948 for the first time the Primera División games.
