Pagig

Pagig (Romansh Pagiai? / I ) is a former faction of the former parish of St. Peter- Pagig in a circle Schanfigg, District Plessur in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland.

On 1 January 2008, the parish of St. Peter merged with Pagig to the new parish of St. Peter- Pagig. Since the beginning of 2013 is part of the municipality Pagig Arosa.

Geography

Pagig is on the right, northern side of the Schanfiggs, 8 km (air line) east of Chur, about 60 m above the main road to Arosa. The village consists of two small settlements on both sides of the Grand Ravine. As a narrow strip, bounded on the west by Clasaurer Tobel, the municipal area of ​​the deep Plessur (820 m above sea level. M. ) extended over the rugged slope to the zone of alpine meadows. There the territory widened to dump Pagiger lead and held on the ridge of the Hochwangkette from Tüfelsch Chopf on the main peak of high Wangs ( 2533 m, the highest point of the former township ) to the east of the Ratoser Stone ( 2474 m).

Of the total area of 524 ha former municipality 305 ha are used for agriculture, mostly as mountain pastures. In addition to 165 hectares of forest and woodland and 42 hectares of unproductive area (mostly mountains ), there are still 12 ha settlement area.

Neighboring communities were Lüen, Castiel, Trimmis ( exclave ), Furna, St. Peter and Molinis.

History

The 1160 mentioned as Puigo place belonged to the Three Leagues as a neighborhood of the Court Ausserschanfigg to ten court covenant. Neither of the castle Buwix ( above the village ), nor from the castle of the lords of sub- paths ( below ) is significant remains have been preserved.

Population

Of the 69 residents were 65 ( = 94.20 %), Swiss nationals (as of end of 2004).
