Trimmis

Trimmis (Romansh appointment? / I ) is a municipality in the district, five villages, District Landquart the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland. The village is also part Says since 1 January 2008 the municipality.

Geography

Trimmis is situated 6 km north of the regional capital, Chur on the right side of the Rhine, which flows past about 2 km west of the village center. 1880, Says was separated from Trimmis and raised an independent municipality (merged again on 1 January 2008), the shape of the church ban with two spatially separated parts originated. Neighboring municipalities are Arosa, the city of Chur, Furna, Grüsch, Haldenstein, Maladers, Untervaz, Valzeina and Zizers.

The horns are from the coat of arms of the lords of Trimmis, the mountain alludes to the folk etymology leading back to the place name on Trimons ( Three Mountains ).

History

Tremune was first mentioned in documents in the year 765 in the will of Bishop Tello, as there was already a church. Even the rare patronage of St. Carpophorus is already attested from that time. In the late Middle Ages, the village ( now in ruins ) belonged to the episcopal rule Alt- Aspermont, named after the castle at the output of Hagtobels, then since 1519 the high court four villages of the church covenant. High above the village are the ruins of the castle top Ruchenberg.

Since the 17th century both denominations are represented in the community. In 1880, Says was cleaved from Trimmis and formed a separate municipality until 2007. On 1 January 2008, the two parishes were reunited.

The parish council has five members. Current mayor is Beat Niederer (2010 ). With Weyregg in Austria, there is a community partnership.

Economy

Formed earlier vine and agriculture, the main economic activity, then Trimmis has developed into a popular residential community on the edge of the canton's capital since 1950. In this case, the population has almost quadrupled in 50 years. However, it was also the community to locate a set of plants so that at the site itself 477 people working in the commercial sector. Traffic

Fusion community

A project group set up in 2003 came to the conclusion that a merger between the municipalities and Trimmis Says ... is the right future-oriented step. This recommendation joined on 26 April 2005, both community leaders to. On 8 May 2007, two community meetings agreed with each large majority of the merger. On 17 June 2007, the urn community in Trimmis also advocated the merger.
