The company was founded in 1932 in Upper Austria Schärding and is headquartered today in Bergheim near Salzburg. History

The origin of the company is a repair and fitter's workshop founded by Richard Palfinger 1932. By specializing in hydraulic cranes his son Hubert Palfinger 1964 laid the foundation for the present company. In 1989, the export share rose more than 90 percent for the first time with a presence in over 70 countries. In June 1999 the company went public. Over the past 20 years has been increasingly placed on diversification and internationalization.

Shareholder

The Palfinger Group is roughly 65 percent owned by the Palfinger family and around 34 per cent free float. 1 percent of the shares is owned by the Palfinger AG. Since June 1999, first listed on the Official Market of the Vienna Stock Exchange. Since March 2005, the shares are traded in New York (August 2011).

Palfinger has evolved from a crane manufacturer to one of the world's leading manufacturers in the field of lifting, loading and handling systems. However, the core product is still the truck - mounted knuckle boom crane.
