Palladium Books

Palladium Books Inc. is one of the oldest existing American role-playing game publishing companies and is based in Westland, Michigan.

History

1981 founded Kevin Siembieda and Erick Wujcik the publisher and brought out her first science fiction role-playing game Mechanoid invasion. This was followed by Heroes Unlimited ( superhero ), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and many other RPGs. The greatest success is launched in 1990 role-playing series Rifts, a mixture of science fiction and fantasy role-playing game that plays 300 years after a triggered by a world war apocalypse that has led to the return of magic, Atlantis and invasions by supernatural monsters.

Various attempts to expand the product portfolio, failed:

  • A novel series to Rifts was the public not appeal.
  • An experiment with a trading card game failed and the partner company had to file for bankruptcy.
  • For the Nokia N -Gage a console game of Rifts has been developed that but due to the poor sales of the N -Gage found few buyers.
  • A film project Rifts with Jerry Bruckheimer is in the ( pre-) planning stage for several years.

The company was located in 2006 due to a large internal fraud, the above failures and the general downturn in the RPG business in serious financial difficulties. Currently the biggest financial problems are overcome and the sales will go up again.

Game system

All games books are based on a common, similar system. The particular brought out to all role-playing games is the basic compatibility with each other. With some small adjustments you can (whether SF, horror or fantasy ) combine all the products to each other, since all use the same basic internal system. Palladium Books coined the term Megaverse (as increase of Universe, Eng. Universum ).

There are to most product lines except the General Ledger additional expansion books.

All products appear only in English, but also in the German speaking a large following.
