Carbon County

Palmerton is a municipality ( Borough ) in Carbon County in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania.

From 1898 to 1980, the current Horsehead Corporation plant here, a zinc melt of local coal and zinc from the about 100 km from Franklin. The name of the place which is located about 40 km northwest of Allentown, in 1912, already awarded in honor of the then President of the New Jersey Zinc Company, Stephen S. Palmer at city's founding.
