Pamelia Kurstin

Pamelia Kurstin ( born May 28, 1976 in Southern California, USA) is the stage name of American musician and theremin player Pamela Stickney.

They played with the fetus, Arthur Blythe, David Byrne, John Zorn, Sebastien Tellier, Brad Mehldau, Ravi Coltrane, Otto Lechner and occurs in the documentary about Robert Moog, Moog ( 2004),.

In 2007 they released their solo CD on John Zorn's Tzadik label. She gave workshops and lectured at the Berklee College of Music, Boston Conservatory of Music and the Metropolitan Museum in New York. She also gives private lessons in Europe and the United States. In 2005, she co-chaired with Lidia Kawina on Moog Theremin Festival in Asheville a master class for Theremin. They were, in 1997, worldwide more than 700 concerts.

In addition to solo concerts Pamelia Kurstin improvised with various jazz groups and artists of electronic music and touring with the jazz - punk - rock band Barbez especially in the U.S. and Europe. She also accompanied silent films and works with visual artists together.

In her solo concerts, which she calls " Theremin Orchestra", Kurstin uses live loops to generate polyphonic sound building, reminiscent of minimal music.

Pamelia Kurstin lives in Vienna.
