Pan Geng

King Pán Geng (Chinese盘庚) (? * BC, † 1374 BC), one of the greatest kings of the Shang Dynasty, the oldest archaeologically proven dynasty in Chinese history, there was a nineteenth or twentieth king of the Shang Dynasty for 28 years over China. He was the son of King Qie thing, the younger brother of the previous king Xiang Jia, the grandson of the ninth generation of the King Cheng Tang

He moved the capital of Yan (Chinese奄, at today's Qu Fu, in Shandong Province ) according to Yin (Chinese殷, at today's Anyang, in Henan province ), which is why the Shang Dynasty is also called " Yin Dynasty ".

After the parade " led Pan Geng charitable policy by the King Cheng Tang, and the simple people are sedentary, then the dynasty flourished again on".

Pán Geng's nephew Wǔ Ding (Chinese武丁) should be the first Shang king be after the move of the capital to Yin, under whose rule oracle bones were labeled.

In the Book of History (Chinese尚书, Pinyin Shàng Shuu ) there is a chapter called " Pán Geng " with three articles, which was traditionally kept for a speech of the king. It says, "the people commemorates Pan Geng's ".

After Loewe & Shaughnessy (1999), however, the language of this chapter is as different from the time of the Shang Dynasty, that it was written most likely later.
