Pan Painter
The Pan Painter was an ancient Greek vase painter of the Attic red-figure style strictly. The Notname is derived from a bell krater in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Pan pursuing a shepherd and on the back shows the death of Actaeon.
He was a pupil of Myson and worked in the period around 480-450 BC He painted except craters Peliken, hydriai and amphorae. Are attributed to him over a hundred vessels.
The illustration in his subjects shows freshness, agility, humor and irony. His figures are partly rough, partly finely tuned and betray its origin from the Doric and Ionic art circle. He is assigned to the Doric - Ionic early classical period.
