Buckthorn Eye

The Thorn eyes ( Pangio ) ( Syn: Acanthophthalmus ) are a genus of loach ( Cobitidae ). The benthic freshwater fish live in Southeast Asia, including the islands of Sumatra, Borneo and Java, India, and Bangladesh. They live in marshes, ponds, lakes, Still waters of rivers, but also in flowing streams, mud and sandy soils between herabgefallenem leaves, roots and plants. In places, they are very common.

Buckthorn Eye feed largely on small crustaceans, such as Chydorus, Bosmina or ostracods ( Ostracoda ).

Features

Dorn eyes have a eel-like, elongated body that is laterally flattened somewhat. The head is scaleless, the eye covered by a transparent skin.
